Reducing carbon footprint: Our progress
Reducing our carbon footprint is vital for reversing climate change. This year brought major reductions in our carbon emissions, and by 2030, we aim to have reduced the carbon footprint from our products and operations by 50 per cent.
7,000
We reduced our carbon output by 7,000 tonnes by mid-2023.
250,000
By 2030, we aim to have reduced our carbon output by 250,000 tonnes.
Small choices, big impact
Our decisions reflect our environmental influence. By consolidating our offices, rethinking furniture material options, and making more changes to come, we’re reducing our carbon footprint while setting standards for carbon reductions.
Green around the globe
Our buildings serve people and the environment. MillerKnoll has many certified green buildings across our global footprint, including our WELL Platinum Retail Headquarters and our GreenHouse facility in Holland, MI, which earned a LEED Pioneer building award.
Carbon-neutral shipping
Freight transportation plays a fundamental role in global sustainability. MillerKnoll’s HAY brand invested in carbon-neutral shipping in Europe and Asia Pacific by partnering with Maersk ECO Delivery, a system powered by fuel made from recycled biomass.
Our 2030 sustainability goals
Sustainable design leads to more inspiring products, as well as a culture of people committed to doing things right. Our goals for 2030 continue our collective's tradition of designing for a world we all want to live in.
Design out waste
We aim to eliminate waste from our processes, including single-use plastic packaging and waste in landfills, air emissions and water use.
Source better materials
Materials comprise over 50 per cent of the carbon footprint of our products. We want to source them better.
