MillerKnoll environmental, health, and safety policy
Purpose: Our purpose, "Design for the Good of Humankind," drives our commitment to safety, sustainability, and environmental responsibility. We aim to design the world's best products in the most sustainable and safe way by focusing on continuous improvement, resource use, biodiversity, pollution prevention, water conservation, and the well-being of people and communities.
Key Areas of Focus:
Risk Reduction: MillerKnoll is committed to ensuring that all safety equipment and protective measures are properly maintained and used to minimize risk. Planned changes will be reviewed to assess potential impacts on legal, compliance, personnel safety, and property protection.
Climate Action: MillerKnoll is committed to reducing carbon emissions through energy efficiency, renewable energy, and carbon reduction strategies.
Resource Use and Circular Economy: MillerKnoll aims to: reduce waste; transition to bio-based or recycled materials; and design durable, closed-loop products.
Biodiversity and Ecosystems: MillerKnoll is committed to protecting and enhancing biodiversity within and beyond our operations. Recognizing the link between planetary health and ecosystems, we aim to positively impact natural resources by enhancing ecosystems and tracking the environmental impacts of our materials.
Pollution Prevention: MillerKnoll will minimize our environmental footprint through proactive measures, safer alternatives, and continuous monitoring. This includes air, water, and waste.
Water and Marine Resources: MillerKnoll will conserve water and improve process efficiency to limit its use with a focus on stewardship in areas of scarcity.
Scope and Governance: This policy applies to all operations, encouraging continuous improvement beyond legal compliance. We engage partners to uphold high standards and integrate environmental and safety risk into our business strategy. Our Board and senior leadership oversee progress, ensuring transparency and accountability.
Continuous Improvement: MillerKnoll will set objectives, consult stakeholders, evaluate external and internal issues, and assess compliance obligations to foster continuous improvement.
Employee Engagement: MillerKnoll empowers our associates through training and consultation to minimize waste, champion sustainable practices, and develop safe work practices.
Reporting and Compliance: MillerKnoll tracks sustainability progress through our Better World Report and welcomes feedback via the Ethics and Compliance Hotline. We monitor environmental and safety compliance through scorecards, audits, and regular meetings. All safety concerns must be reported to Work Team Leaders and properly documented.
